The post brings another creation using the Country Home stamp set. My personal challenge stamp set for the week. I am loving working with this set. I have found it’s not difficult to fussy cut the images, and the floral arrangements are easy to color and work with any color challenges. There are more little pieces to the set that I hadn’t really noticed, or just looked over, thus this personal challenge of picking a set to work with all week come what may. This creation was inspired by the color challenge SSC215 at Sunday Stamps. All those gorgeous rich colors of fall. The first color, the darkest, I couldn’t decide if it was black or dark green. I pulled it up on my phone and various other monitors sometimes it looked dark green and others black. Since there is a really dark green squash in the photo, I went with dark green. That said the darkest green I had is Pretty Peacock. So, I just went with it, working in tandem with Terracotta Tile, Basic Gray, a touch of Mango Melody and Whisper White. To at least show black some love, I heat emboss the sentiment in black.
This card starts with a half sheet of Pretty Peacock card stock cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″ to create a standard side folding card.
To create all the parts and pieces, first came the stamping of the milk can and floral arrangement in Archival Ink color Coffee and Watering Can. I love the cotton bouquet, that is my go to, I really need to change that up a bit. However, I live in the south! Cotton is everywhere, on our drive to the beach over the holiday weekend we saw farm after farm with acres and acres of white cotton exploding out of the brown pods. It really looked like a dusting of snow. It is also harvesting time, fibers and clumps of loose cotton could be found miles away accumulating along the side of the road, it was crazy. Actually very pretty to see all the stalks with cotton exploding from each and every pod. Moving on, the milk can is rendered with the Stampin’ Blends Basic Black Combo pack. The straps around the can are actually painted in using a drop of Celestial Copper Delicata Ink refill. The floral arrangement uses Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends combo pack, Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends combo pack along with the Terracotta Tile Stampin’ Write marker. The Cotton is filled in with a touch of Smoky Slate Light and the Ivory Stampin’ Blends markers.
For a touch of texture a strip of Terracotta Tile cardstock was run through the embossing machine using the Corrugated Embossing Folder. While alreadybat the embossing/diecutting machine, I die cut the milk can floral arrangement image using the stitched Rectanlge dies. Using the next size up in the Nested Tectangle dies I cut a Basic Gray mat for the image. The Sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, then again with Versamark, this repetitive stamping is a great job for the Stamparstus, and then clear heat embossed and then die cut the sentiment.
Everything goes together pretty easily, to the card front a cut to size piece of patterned paper from the Gather Together Designer Series Paper is attached with glue, the Terracotta Tile corrugated strip is applied with liquid adhesive to a pattern paper. On the back of the Basic Grey Stitched mat a piece of black craft foam cut is adhered with liquid glue, this will provide additional lift to the focal image. The focal image is applied to the front of that unit with liquid adhesive. The sentiment is attached with glue and dimensionals.
I loved getting this card together and working to meet all of the challenges. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, the design team behind this challenge and other, or to see what other fantastic designers have created to answer this challenge and others, hop on over to Sunday Stampers.
