Card Challenges

Daisy Lane going to Festive Friday

Hey everyone, so glad you could visit for a bit today!

Today I have a card created for the Theme/Color Challenge at Festive Friday Challenge #FF0037. Hop on over to their blog to learn more about this really fun challenge.

For this challenge I could only go one way…..Yellow! I don’t have any emoji stamps, I thought about drawing one, but the odds of that turning out well were slim. So I went really simple and yellow. Emoji’s are funny, daisies make me happy, so I thought Smile would be an appropriate sentiment for this bright, happy card.

This is a super simple card. I started with a Daffodil Delight Card side folding card. On a piece of Whisper White I scattered some Pigment sprinkles around and then activated with water. On another piece of Whisper White and scattered some more Pigment Sprinkles a bit more heavily, activated with water and then let dry thoroughly.

Once both pieces of Whisper White were dry, I took the Whisper White mat with a bit of Pigment Sprinkles to the Stamparatus, lined up the “Smile” sentiment, then stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I then attached the completed mat onto the card base with fun foam. I think the fun foam gives slightly warped cardstock and water color paper a sturdier sub-straight, giving the mat a neater appearance. Now, to spice up the Gold Faceted Gems, I took the Lazy Susan route with these daisies and gave them a dark center. I colored 3 of the Gold Faceted Gems, with the Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Marker, then left them to dry. Now its time to use the Medium Daisy Punch and punch out 6 flowers from the remaining piece of Whisper White. I glue two flowers together, offsetting the petals and create 3 flowers. I attach the colored gems to the center of the flowers and then attach the finished flowers to the front of the card with Liquid adhesive.

Such a simple card, I was heading in a far more complicated direction, then I put the brakes on when this idea popped into my head. Every creation always takes a lot of playing and feeling out what works and what doesn’t. It a lot of play time and I love it. Especially when I get assistance from young one here and there, she loves to offer ideas and help. Thanks for stopping by, glad you could spend some time with me. Hope you enjoyed the card and if you have a spare moment hop on over to Festive Friday to learn more about this challenge and to see what the design team created as their examples. I shall return soon, until then keep crafting, exploring and creating.
