Hello!  The 2nd week of April is a sketch challenge here at CAS Colours & Sketches, and here is what Wei has drawn up to challenge our creative minds. We would love to see what your creative mind can come up with to answer this challenge, so please share your creations with us on our blog. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

This challenge jumped off the page of my planner just as I received my March Paper Pumpkin card kit. I have been waiting, what seems forever, for this kit. I was so excited to use it so here it is, though I did use other stamp sets from my stash to finish it off.

The image in this kit that was constantly calling to me was on a postcard, I punched the image out with a 3″ scallop punch. The 3 tree images going off the image are on a different side, so I had to flip the sketch to make it work. There were stencils included in the kit so I used the sunburst pattern with Bumblebee ink and a touch of calypso coral and a blending brush. The Calypso Coral gets a bit lost though and doesn’t show as much as I had hoped. I die cut that image with a larger circle die as the mat for the post card image. I glued both circles together then mounted them on the card base with craft foam. The flower image is from the Pretty Perennials bundle – I stamped the largest flower in Bumblebee, used the coordinating die set to cut out the flower as well as the inside filler flower, from bumblebee cardstock. The Greeting “Hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day” comes from the Welcoming Window Stamp set. Inside the card, I used the same 3″ scallop punch to cut the field of flowers from the same post card and attached that image in the lower right corner. It is a rarity for me to use ribbon or other embellishments on my cards….I guess I am a purist in that respect. However, the sunburst pattern was demanding I add some shimmer/glistening golden rays, so I added the gold gems. Like I said, it is a rarity, however, I do like what they add.

My goodness this is stunning Shannon! I thought you’d got hold of a new stamp set there but the postcard image is superb and cutting it out with the circle punch makes the perfect background for the little flower. Vicky x
