My July 2020 Summer Nights July Paper Pumpkin kit arrived a couple days ago! This kit is all about creating a fun summer night’s celebration. I absolutely love the evening sky designs on the post cards (and the Add-on cards). And the die-cut tealight bags are so much fun and offer many options of their own!

This fantastic, all-inclusive, monthly subscription kit contains the supplies shown below to make nine postcard-style cards with envelopes and nine die-cut tealight bags. Plus this month subscribers have the opportunity to purchase the Summer Nights Add-On from the online store which includes (24) 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card bases and envelopes in coordinating designs so you can use the leftover kit supplies and expand the creative experience. The designs on these Summer Nights Add-On cards/envelopes are slightly different than those on the postcards. And so these give you even more summer evening sky imagery to create with! If you decide to assemble the kit as is, you will have LOTS of extras leftover. So these extras would be great to pair up with those add-on cards!

Fireworks, Fireflies, Sparklers, Flowers even, everything you could need is inside the box …. thinking outside the box….the options are endless.

Here is an alternative (1 of many more) that I put together…A Shaker card! What more do kids love to do during the early evening hours of summer, when all those fireflies pop up and begin lighting up the backyard with their tiny bits of light? Gotta catch those suckers, so much fun.

I traced one of the vellum jars included in the kit, on the back of one of the post cards also in the kit. Using a cutting blade, I cut the body of the jar out. Then, I attached the face of the vellum jar to the back of the postcard creating the window of the shaker card, being careful to keep the gold outline hidden.

I touched a bit of Bumblebee ink on the inside if the vellum jar to create a glow for the light coming from the 3 die cut fireflies attached to the front of the card, I also used a few of the die cut fireflies inside the shaker jar. To keep those fireflies inside the jar, I attached a piece of Coastal Cabana to the back. I also, traced the lid of the vellum jar onto some brushed copper cardstock, then fussy cut the lid, wrapped some copper ribbon around the lid and attached with thin tear-n-tape, then applied a bow with a glue dot. The finished lid is attached to the front of the card with liquid glue.

As any evening gathering must have, I strung some of the die cut lanterns across with some of the Night of Navy twine included in the kit. From the stamp set included in the kit comes the greeting “You Light up my Life” which is stamped in Night of Navy on a die cut dry embossed label included in the kit.

Inside is lined with a piece of Coastal Cabana and Whisper White cardstock. The white layer has the firefly image from the stamp set stamped in 2nd generation Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana.

Such a fun kit to play with, and you can expect to see more alternatives.

If you think this kit looks like fun, imagine the fun that could be had with August 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit!
