Life is Tough

This project was created for the Sunday Stamps Color Challenge SSC209 Vivid Visions.  This is probably my most favorite combination of colors ever. So beautiful together.

Something about this appearance of this challenge and this Hummingbird from the Stampin’ Up! Humming Along Stamp set and the Stampin’ Up! Friendly Expressions stamp set collided and hit me with this combination. The Hummingbird is so small, so beautiful, they maneuver with speed and quickness, all because of those hardworking wings. Their wings flap so fast it is unbelievable. Their life is tough, but then again they are tough. Their beaks can pierce just about anything, their speed and maneuverability is what keeps them alive.

The card base is a standard top folding card from Whisper White Thick cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″. For the front image I stamped the Hummingbird in Versamark ink, then embossed with Black embossing powder. I then water-colored the hummingbird using Stampin’ Up! inks Night of Navy, Call me Clover and Gorgeous Grape. I also used Wink of Stella on the Hummingbird. The Sentiment is embossed in White on Basic Black Cardstock. The black cardstock frame was die cut using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits. I elevated the center panel with white fun foam, then elevated the sentiment with dimensionals. The Jewels I used to embellish are from Pretty Pink Posh, Midnight jewels.
