Card Challenges

Painted Harvest goes Global

Hey everyone, thanks so much for stopping by!

Today I have a card created for the color challenge at Global Design Project #GDP197. The colors that must be represented in this challenge are the Stampin’ Up! In-colors for 2019-2021, Seaside Spray, Terracotta Tile and Pear pizazz.

This color combination can go 2 ways for me; bright, sunny and cheery or it can head down the fall-ish road. I shot for right in between with the bright and fiery Sunflower surrounded by the blue sky.

For this design I chose to go with the standard size top folding card base using Whisper White Thick, measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″. I chose to use Pear Pizzazz and Terracotta Tile as the mats. On Whisper White Card stock the 2 step sunflower image from the Painted Harvest Stamp set was stamped in Terracotta Tile. The first layer was stamped off so the background would be lighter and create more depth. The 2nd step sunflower image was stamped full strength Terracotta Tile. The leaf images for this set are also a 2 step process. The leaves fill image was the 2nd generation Pear Pizzazz while the 2nd step process was full strength Pear Pizzazz providing more depth and detail.

The center of the sunflower was stamped in 2nd generation Soft Suede. The Background is brushed on with Seaside spray – representing the sky. Once the focal mat was completed I glued it to the Terracotta mat. At the bottom of the card Linen Thread is wrapped around a few times for interest and texture. The sentiment, also from Painted Harvest, is stamped in Terracotta Tile on Whisper White scrap and then fishtailed at each end. It is adhered to the card with dimensionals. Once the finished panel was complete, I adhered it to the Pear Pizzazz mat with liquid glue. The completed front mat is then adhered onto fun foam and then attached to the card base with liquid glue. I do love the fun foam behind the layer(s) on the card base, as opposed to dimensionals. It is just more solid or sturdy. I like the feel of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this design. If you would like to learn more about this challenge, and others, or would like to see what the Design Team Members created for the challenge, hop on over to Global Design Project and check it out. As always, I shall return soon. Until then, keep crafting, exploring and creating.
