I have such an affinity for all things Asian. The colors, the culture, everything is steeped in meaning.

The stamp set I am using for this card is called the Power of Hope in the Power of Hope Bundle, in the Sale-A-Bration catalog and is free with a qualifying order. I am so into the Asian cultures, I love learning all the meanings of all their customs. My daughter and I even attempted learning the Mandarin language, but it required more study time than she had (with her swim practices and school homework of her own). I did a little bit of research for you regarding the images in this stamp set.

The Single story Pagoda, morphed from the Stupa of India tradition. The Stupa, which originated from the Hindu religion in India, began as a small mound that housed Buddha’s ashes. It merged into the Chinese culture morphing into the Pagoda, it then carried over to the Japanese culture. The Pagoda image in the Power of Hope Bundle Stamp set represents the smaller version of the Pagoda called the tahōtō – a type of wooden single story Pagoda, with a mokoshi – a purely decorative enclosed pent roof – under its main roof, making it appear to have two stories. The Pagoda Tree originated in China, however it is called the Japanese Pagoda Tree: Styphnolobium japonicum. The flowers from this tree are used for making various teas, while also being a fundamental herb in the tradition of Chinese Medicine. The Geisha image is what drew me this stamp set. The Geisha is very respected in the Japanese culture, and it is very hard to become one. She is a symbol of beauty and mystery. She represents feminine power & intrigue.

I used another stamp set called Forever Blossoms, all of its images are of the Cherry Blossom. The Cherry Blossom, in Japan symbolizes clouds, mostly due to the Cherry Blossoms nature of blooming en masse. The Cherry Blossom also symbolizes the nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with its Buddhist influence.

In my opinion, these two stamp sets belong together, there is so much symbolism caught up in all of these images that simply connects them.

I bring you a Z-fold card, the card base is Whisper White Thick cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″ and again at 2-3/4″. First fold at the 5-1/2″ score to create the top folding “tent” card. Fold the edge of the front flap at the 2-3/4″ score line towards the top folded edge of the “tent” card. Something like an accordion fold, but only 1 fold. Cut a strip of Whisper White thick to 1-1/4″ x 11″ and score at 5-1/2″ at one end, then 2-3/4″ from the opposite end. The longest portion will attach to the front flap of the card, while the shortest portion will attach to the front face of the back card flap. For this card the front panel and the back panel run over top of the strip hiding portions of the strip. leaving (2) 2-3/4″ portions of the strip to cover, embellish as desired.

I silver heat embossed every image and sentiment on this card with the exception of the Cherry Blossom, which is stamped in Smoky Slate. The Branch of Cherry Blossoms and the individual cherry blossom images are rendered using the Stampin’ Blends Marker Combo pack of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam. An Old Olive Watercolor pencil is also used to add some dimension to the leaves and branches. The Geisha and Pagoda are rendered with The Real Red, Pale Pink and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends Marker Combo Packs. The images are die cut using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies from the Annual Catalog and a die from the Stitched so Sweetly Dies found in the Mini-Catalog pg. 20 and can also be purchased as part of the So Sentimental Bundle. Bundles are always 10% off. The Cherry Blossoms and Branch can be found in the Forever Blossoms Stamp set, the stamp set can also be bundled with the coordinating dies in the Forever Blossoms Bundle, also with a 10% discount. The silver embossed sentiment panels are also in the Power of Hope stamp set and are die cut using the Stitched so Sweetly scalloped rectangle dies.

The Petal Pink card stock matts are die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The Smoky Slate matts are run through the embossing machine using the Corrugated 3D embossing folder. The Pale Pink and Smoky Slate matt are adhered together with liquid glue, then attached to each front face of the card base and the Z-fold strip. The die cut sentiment panels attach to the inside portions of the card providing privacy for a personal message.

I chose to layer the Cherry Blossom Branch over the Geisha Girl on the front flap, attach the Pagoda Tree image “embellishment” to the first visible strip portion. The Pagoda (tahōtō ) image is adhered to the outside matted panel next to the personal message panel. For a final bit of pizzazz, The centers of the Cherry Blossoms are embellished with Champagne Rhinestones.

Something to consider if you would really like to have this Power of Hope Stamp Set is the following Project Collection. This bundle of items will help create some gorgeous scenery to compliment the images in the Power of Hope Stamp set.

The Power of Hope Project Collection gives you a coordinating selection of products to make additional Power of Hope Cards. When you buy the project collection, you’ll qualify for the FREE Sale-A-Bration product: Power of Hope Bundle (Power of Hope Cling Stamp Set + Stone 3D Embossing Folder). Of course, you can also create your bundle of items to suit your tastes.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item.
