Card Challenges

Stamp It Group Halloween or Fall themed August Blog Hop

I chose to go with a Halloween theme, which is a bit out of my comfort zone, I can’t seem (in my own mind) to create the perfect spooky card. So I am super excited how this turned out –

Believe it or not, this all begins with a quarter piece of Very Vanilla card stock with a 1-1/2″ circle mask for the moon. Now pull out your brayer and your black ink, cover the entire piece of Very Vanilla with black ink by brayering it on top to bottom and side to side until you get the coverage you want. Pull off the mask, tuck the newly black cardstock into the Woodland Embossing Folder. Rinse off the black ink from your brayer, pull out the Whisper White Craft ink, ever so lightly brayer the white pigment over the tree trunks, be very gentle! Once the pigment ink dries, which it will take longer, color the embossed tree trunks and branches with the Smokey Slate Stampin’ Write Marker where they are uncolored over the moon. I cut some bats from Black glitter paper using the Halloween Magic Dies, I also used the Cat punch to punch a cat. I used the gold glitter dots for the cats eyes. I gathered a collection of previously created and cut leaves from the Gather Together Bundle, Gather Leaves Dies – I was so happy I had already created these in the perfect watercolor combo for this card! The “Boo” greeting is cut from the Playful Alphabet dies from black cardstock, inked the edges with white ink, then covered them with a coat or two of Wink of Stella. I glued the letters to some black fun foam. With all the parts and pieces compiled, the card comes together pretty quickly with glue and dimensionals. I used Cajun Craze and a patterned paper from the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper as a mat. The finished front panel is attached to a standard side folding Black card base cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″.

I lined the inside with Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla, jazzed up the bottom portion with a strip of Black Glitter Cardstock and a strip of the patterned paper and a bat. In Memento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the sentiment from the Hallows Night Magic stampset the sentiment “There is Magic in this Night.”, then I die cut it with a frame from the Ornate Frames Die set.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit.
