I am absolutely in love with this card! First off, I love the look, colors and smell of lavender. So much so that I have anything and everything connected to it. Lavender shower gel and lotion, essential oil for my laundry, diffusers, candles, etc. So it is a natural progression that I had to have the Lavender Suite. I personally don’t do much with patterned paper unless I can connect with the majority of the patterns in the pack, this set is a success with me – purple is always welcome, I adore the natural rustic feel of crumb cake – this entire suite has won me over. For this card, I had the overwhelming need to add in the Simply Zinnia bundle – for an additional touch of color. It feels more like a flower garden with that addition which also works perfectly for a birthday card. The Crumb cake gingham patterned paper works so well for the background – and I simply love the pattern. The colors are what makes me the happiest with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape for the lavender. Berry Burst, Lofty Lemon, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape cardstock for the Zinnia. The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Old Olive cardstock. The flowers and leaves are cut with the coordinating Simply Zinnia die set. The sentiment is from the Notes of Nature stamp set, stamped in Crumb Cake on Basic White cardstock and die cut with the Tailor Made Tags die set. The final touches of the Natural Wavy Trim – which is hands down my favorite ribbon/trim of all, and a dash of purple and sparkle on the tag with the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems (another piece to the Painted Lavender Suite.)

An early Happy Fathers Day shout out to all the Dad’s in the world. While moms keep the family moving onward and forward, the dad’s are supporting the family logistics and always seem to have a unique response and opinion (good or bad) about the various situations. I know my dad does, as well as my husband (also a dad) – these two can turn any situation into an absolutely comedic event, and at times a misery if they don’t agree with the condition/situation. None the less, at my house, they can reach the item on the highest shelf, improvise and encourage with the best of ’em.

I could not come up with a single idea for a Father’s Day card….nothing was coming together. I started looking through the stamp sets, colors and papers I had….suddenly….an epiphany! Just as I pull out Season of Chic Stamp Set and see the sea shells, it occurs to me that the coordinating die set has a really cool textural net like die. Hmmmm, I like it! What now – I need sentiments. Out comes the He’s all That stamp set and its coordinating die set All That. How cool – an idea has been birthed! I am in love with 2 of the new in-colors, Copper Clay and Pebbled Path. Looking at those colors, it occurs to me that every shell I find on the beach at his house is typically white and more often than not has stripes of a similar peachy orange or a similar gray. Perfect! The DSP for the Fresh as a Daisy Suite has this beautiful Copper Clay watercolor wash pattern, which also looks stunning with the Pebbled Path (in my opinion) lets not ignore they are quite a masculine combo. I wanted to add a bit more texture so I added the Silver Threaded Twine. The Brushed Metallic Dots were screaming to be added as a touch of understated manly metallic glitz. I felt the crumbcake card base resembled the sand and should pull this whole conglomeration together, it also needed to be a dutch door fun fold card, not just a standard A4 card, nothing but the best for my dad. I am in love with this card. I love that natural colors, the textures and the overall masculinity of the design. I cannot wait to send it to my dad.
