TGIF Challenges – #TGIFC219 Color Challenge

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by.

Today I have a card created for the color challenge at TGIF Challenges #tgifc219. In this challenge the colors we use in the design are Purple Posy, Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray.

In my head these colors lent themselves very nicely to birds, though flowers would be a nice combination as well. I went with birds because just as I was looking over the challenge, a Blue bird flew by the window. In Alabama the blue birds are a vibrant blue color, the males have gorgeous peachy orange bellies. So here is my riff on the bird that flew past my window.

All of the images, and the sentiment, for this card are from the Free as a Bird Stamp set. To begin the card base is a standard top folding Whisper White Thick Card Stock cut at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″. Attached to the front of the card base is a mat comprised of a piece of Rococo Rose card stock topped with a slightly smaller piece of Whisper White Card Stock. Both of the mats are wrapped with a 6-1/2″ piece of Rococo Rose Linen Ribbon, attached with a piece of tear-n-tape.

On a piece of Whisper White Card stock I stamped the image of the birds on a branch. I colored all pieces of the image with Stampin’ Blends Marker Combo Packs of Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose for the birds, Purple Posy for the flower and Crumb Cake for the branch.

I cut out the image with the Nested Labels Dies, then I cut a Purple Posy mat with a larger Nested Labels die. I attached this combo to the front of the card with dimensionals. Below the focal image is a sentiment stamped on Purple Posy and matted with a longer piece of Rococo Rose, this combo is also attached with dimensionals. To finish off the front of the card, I attached several sequins in Rococo Rose from the Woven Threads Assorted Sequins collection.

Inside the card, I wanted to pull the colors through. So I attached a strip of Seaside Spray card stock. On top of the strip in the corner, I adhered some flowers and a branch image, also from the Free as a Bird Stamp Set. The flowers are colored with the Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends Marker Combo Pack, while the leaves are colored with the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Marker Combo Pack.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this design. I shall return shortly with more! Until then, keep crafting, exploring and creating.
