Card Challenges

Timeless Tulips – revisited

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Is the middle/end of March really here already? Last year at this time we were all hunkered down scared to breathe, move, speak, cough or sneeze. Glad that is mostly behind us now and I am so ready for spring…. Well, this week Yoon Young has brought us a taste of Spring with her color selection for our Color Challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches this week. What do these bright and cheery colors stir up in your head? We would love to see your creations, if you are so inclined to share what your creative talents have conjured up, please share with us by posting your card on our blog for all to see.

With spring rolling on in, and these bright springy colors, what could scream spring more loudly than Tulips! This is another quick and easy card to pull together. A tiny bit more effort in the stamping, but the effect is absolutely worth it.

I went with the Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tulip stamp set. Such beautiful, realistic images and gorgeous in Mango Melody and So Saffron. I stamped the entire tulip image in So Saffron, so lightest color first, then with a sponge dauber I dabbed on Mango Melody inside the tulip and on the lower outer edge, I think it added some fantastic depth. Love how these turned out. The leaf is simply stamped in Pear Pizzazz, then I used the coordinating punch to punch out the tulip and leaf images. I used the largest Stitched Rectangles die to create a background of Basic White for the Tulips. Layered the focal panel on a piece of Mango Melody card as a mat. The tulips and leaves are simply glued down, the greeting “Happy Mother’s Day” (also a very springy day) in Mango Melody. Inside the card, I just glued another tulip and leaf combo.

I love the delicate looking tulips Shannon. The curved placement of them is so pretty, and the frame you made is the perfect way to highlight them. Vicky x
