Welcome to March my fellow crafters and paper enthusiasts. Yoon Young is our leader for this month, bringing you some very springy colors that can do nothing other than boost your spirits. Down here in my little red dot on the map, Spring has already sprung, we are mid to high 70’s, stormy weather comes and goes. More importantly the tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocus, have already made their presence known. So these colors from Yoon are perfectly suited for my situation. We would love to see what card creations you are inspired to create with this color combination. Please do post your card creations to our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Looking out my window, all I see in every direction are all the spring flowers blooming, daffodils being the most prevalent so I had no choice but to put a daffodil at center stage. I used a daffodil image from the stamp set Daffodil Daydream, using the Parakeet Party for the leaves and Daffodil Delight for the flower. I colored the image with Daffodil Delight and Parakeet Party markers. I also laid down a bit of water from an aqua brush so the marker ink could bleed to fade out the harsh lines from coloring on the flower. I used the dotted image, stamped in Parakeet Party, from the same set as a way to ground the daffodil image. I used a Stitched Rectangles die to cut a mat out from a scrap piece of Highland Heather cardstock, then cut the daffodil image with a smaller Stitched Rectangles die from Basic White cardstock. Attached the two cut piece with Stampin’ Seal, then attached the finished panel to the Basic White card base. The sentiment “Happy Mothers Day” comes from the same stamp set and is stamped in Highland Heather. As usual, the inside is not to be ignored! I simply stamped the dot pattern along the bottom edge a couple of times, stamped the butterfly image in Highland Heather and color in with Highland Heather and Daffodil Delight markers.
