Hey Friends, Nancy has a sketch challenge for us this time around.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Sketches always mess with my head a bit. I’m not sure if its because they set an expectation, force me to think a certain way, or what it is exactly. With color challenges – skies the limit – can easily think outside the box. With this challenge though, once I relaxed and let the sketch sit with me for a bit, there was only one thing that I had to do. Christmas lights….. they were looking at me the whole time, making subtle suggestions. Then the light bulb blinked on. Literally! I pulled in the Merry & Bright Bundle and the Christmas Tidings Embossing Folder. I love that the die set has a couple of “light string” choices – so I used both. One inside and one outside. I used the Deckled Rectangles Dies to cut the Basic Black backgrounds – then I ran them through the Christmas Tidings Embossing folder. I really think this is such a cute embossing folder – you will most likely see it in all things holiday. The bulbs are die cut from some scraps I had of the now discontinued, Rainbow Glimmer Paper. The bulb caps and strings are cut from Basic White card with a die provided in the coordinating set. Each bulb is attached to the black embossed background, then I attached the light string on top of the bulbs. I probably could have woven the “string” through the bulb cap openings, but I just came up with that as I was typing, so… missed opportunity. The sentiment also comes from the Merry & Bright stamp set, then I just cut it out with the paper trimmer.. The finished pieces are then attached to the card base with black dimensionals.

Thanks again for stopping by and spending a bit of your time with me. I hope you enjoyed learning about how this card came together. Hopefully you were even inspired just a bit. Below are pictured links to all the items used for this card, click the link of the item to be taken to my online store where you can learn more about each item. I will return soon with something new. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and without doubt, keep on crafting, exploring and creating.

Shannon we are complete opposites – I’d take a sketch over colours any day! Love those sparkly lights though – they are perfect!
