I am absolutely in love with this card! First off, I love the look, colors and smell of lavender. So much so that I have anything and everything connected to it. Lavender shower gel and lotion, essential oil for my laundry, diffusers, candles, etc. So it is a natural progression that I had to have the Lavender Suite. I personally don’t do much with patterned paper unless I can connect with the majority of the patterns in the pack, this set is a success with me – purple is always welcome, I adore the natural rustic feel of crumb cake – this entire suite has won me over. For this card, I had the overwhelming need to add in the Simply Zinnia bundle – for an additional touch of color. It feels more like a flower garden with that addition which also works perfectly for a birthday card. The Crumb cake gingham patterned paper works so well for the background – and I simply love the pattern. The colors are what makes me the happiest with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape for the lavender. Berry Burst, Lofty Lemon, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape cardstock for the Zinnia. The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Old Olive cardstock. The flowers and leaves are cut with the coordinating Simply Zinnia die set. The sentiment is from the Notes of Nature stamp set, stamped in Crumb Cake on Basic White cardstock and die cut with the Tailor Made Tags die set. The final touches of the Natural Wavy Trim – which is hands down my favorite ribbon/trim of all, and a dash of purple and sparkle on the tag with the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems (another piece to the Painted Lavender Suite.)

This is probably about as masculine as a holiday card could get! I don’t know what it was about these papers from the One Horse Open Sleight DSP pack – but it hit a chord with me. I got to playing with the 4 patterns you will see in the pics below. As for the card base, that was my toughest decision! I tried Mossy Meadow, Real Red, Basic White, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake….nothing hit me more than Early Espresso.

The pattern in the Mossy Meadow DSP strip isn’t gold but it is definitely a golden yellow color – since these colors were so masculine and rustic, something needed to help them pop – Distressed Gold Specialty DSP to the rescue – and a good bit of it. Finally got all the patterns worked and placed on their Distressed Gold matt and then on to the card base with Stampin’ Seal. The sentiment, or focal point now needs to be fine tuned. I was really wanting to use the “large banner die” (lack of a better word), with the holly and berry sprays at each end, from the Christmas Classic dies, so I did, with more Distressed Gold DSP. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold on Early Espresso card and comes from the Joy of Noel Stamp set. It is die cut with the coordinating banner die to the Distressed Gold larger banner die, if that makes any sense at all. The die cut embossed sentiment is attached with Black dimensionals – Can’t dare show any white on the front of this card!

I felt like I wanted to do a bit of paper piecing with the holly leaves and berries on the larger banner die. I strategically located the holly leaves and berries on scraps of the Mossy Meadow and Real Red DSP that is already on the front. Using the Press and Seal trick to hold all the parts and pieces together, they are attached to the card base with Stampin’ Seal. I felt like there needed to be a bit more added behind the leaves so I die cut some pine needles in Mossy Meadow from the Joy of Noel Dies and stuck them right in behind the holly leaves, giving the fullness I really felt like it needed.

Inside becomes light and bright with the 4th DSP selection from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP Pack. What I call the Blizzard struck Nordic Dark Forest. This strip is embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder, for a bit of texture and emphasis on frozen precipitation. I also brought in a bit more of the Distress Gold DSP. Then the overwhelming need to add NOEL forced my hands to emboss the letters in gold, on a piece of Early Espresso card and die cut with the coordinating die from the Joy of Noel bundle. Finally my brain and hands stopped taking over my body – I was so happy with the outcome. Very Masculine, but as the sentiment says “Making Spirits Bright” the inside definitely brightens up the mood.
