Card Challenges

Rooted in Nature and Brightly Gleaming come together for Paper Players and Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

For this post I have a card inspired by the Clean-and-Simple Challenge: PP464 on the Paper Players blog and for a Theme challenge of Die Cutting Challenge #054 on the Inspire.Create Stamping Challenge blog.

This may be as clean and simple as I can get! The NEED to add things to my cards is beyond me, it is very similar to the “Force”, it consumes me and leads the way! Of course creating this card for two very different challenges helped to fuel the NEED.

This card starts with a half sheet of Pretty Peacock cardstock cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ to create a top folding card base.

Pretty Peacock and lifted her head lately and has demanded my attention. So I have had to show her the love, which is easily done. Such a gorgeous color!! The second thing that popped into thought was this pattern from Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper collection for the Brightly Gleaming Suite in the 2019 Holiday Catalog. I LOVE copper, I had to have this pack of paper – Night of Navy, Pretty Peacock, Copper…whats not to love! If there is copper anything to be had…I have it. With paper crafting….I have it in bulk. Naturally, I pulled out the Copper foil and the copper embossing powder and went to town. The Rooted in Nature stamp set and the coordinating Nature’s Root Dies have a cult following, I will admit I have a weakness for this set as well.

Off to the heat gun. The sentiment “You are Wonderful” is stamped in Versamark Ink on Very Vanilla Card stock, then heat embossed in copper. The delicate leaf images from the Rooted in Nature stamp set are also heat embossed in copper. The leaves are die cut with their coordinating dies from the Nature’s Root Dies, the sentiment is die cut with a retired frame die from Foliage Frame.

Now all the pieces come together. The Pretty Peacock and Copper pattern from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper is attached to a frame of Copper Foil with liquid adhesive, creating a mat. Save the inner portion of the Copper Foil for a later project – no point in wasting such a beautiful piece of paper on what can’t be seen! To the bottom of the this combination, a strip of Pretty Peacock is adhered with liquid glue. On the back of the finished mat, a piece of craft foam is adhered with liquid glue. I love the sturdy feel the foam offers the mat and adds just enough weight to make the card feel good in the hand, and helps with a bit of lift! The sentiment piece and leaves finally show me how they would like to be arranged and are glued to the Pretty Peacock strip on the mat. The Sentiment is raised just a bit with some dimensionals.

Inside the card is a liner of Very Vanilla card stock, decorated in the lower left corner with other die cut leaf images from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. Carrying a bit of the copper embossing and Pretty Peacock inside.

There she is, a sight to behold, Pretty Peacock and Copper – Gotta Love it! I hope you do love it or at least enjoyed seeing how it came together. If you would like to learn more about thess challenges, meet the design team members behind these challenges and so many others, or to see what other talented designers created for these challenges, hop on over to the Paper Players and Inspire.Create Stamping Challenge blog to check them out.
