The start of a new week, time to answer for my personal weekly challenge to select a stamp set/bundle to use for the entire week (with what I perceive as being a coordinating stamp set – if need arises), combined with a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches #FMS405.

My personal stamp set/bundle challenge is not completely a random drawing, I rifle through the sets and which ever one I touch that gives me a vibe is the set for me this week. Sometimes, luckily, it is only one. Other times my entire collection screams at me. Then I walk away, clear the head, drink some coffee then come pull something off the shelf and go with it. This week Rustic Retreat was screaming at me….maybe because this week it could actually be the start (maybe) of the Fall season in the south. Rain, significantly cooler temps (a high of 80 today – 20+ degrees cooler than norm of late), living in and loving the moment! Let me show you what I have come up with this sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

This card begins with a half sheet of Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ for a standard side folding card.

The thought that came together for Rustic Retreat with this challenge is all the changing colors of the falling leaves and the feeling of drinking some coffee on a crisp fall morning, next to the fireplace with a warm blanket in my cabin. Makes me happy! On some scrap of Very Vanilla I stamped the Cabin image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, not sure which direction I was going just yet and the sentiment “Thinking of You”, seemed appropriate since I am heavily thinking about the Fall Season right now. The leaves are from the Gather Together Coordinating die set called Gathered Leaves. They are cut from watercolor paper washed with all the fall colors Old Olive, Garden Green, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Real Red.

The cabin needed to be rendered, that is when the water color pencils made themselves heard. I reached for the Garden Green, Old Olive, Real Red, Basic Gray, Basic Black and Early Espresso pencils. Once the cabin was nice and enticing, I fussy cut the scene. The sentiment is cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies to keep it simple then distressed around the edges with Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.

The large leaves were adhered directly to the card front with liquid adhesive, the cabin is adhered with dimensionals. The cabin is the coziest most desirable feature of the season this card is representing and must be put on that pedestal! (Fall, colorful changing leaves, cabins, cozy fires, wine in the evening, coffee in the morning, the smell of cinnamon and a fuzzy warm blanket – Fall is my favorite season!) So glad it is finally here ….. maybe!

As always, I do not forget about the inside of the card – it needs some love too. The inside is lined with a cut to size piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and a water colored leaf is adhered with liquid glue in the lower right corner.

I love how this card makes me feel, its my happy place. I hope this card invokes the feeling of your happy place. Enjoy the thought of your heppy place and the feeling it evokes for just a minute.
