Rustic Retreat gets clean and simple with CAS Colours & Sketches

This post brings to you a card created for the CAS Colours and Sketches Color Challenge #341. This was a tough one for me due to the personal challenge I have to use only 1 stamp set/bundle for an entire week for every post. Rustic Retreat is this weeks challenge set.
I am actually pretty pleased with this card, it has got to be #SimpleStamping worthy and not something usually found in my wheelhouse. I am usually a bit more dimensional. Wasn’t too sure I cared for the color combination either – not a big on Mint Macaron fan. However, I think I am quite pleased. Hope you enjoy the simplicity of this card. NOTE: We have a sweet dog named Smokey by our kids – so please excuse me if I happen to misspell Smoky Slate – we spell Smoky a bit differently around here.
This card begins with a half sheet of Smoky Slate card stock cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ for a standard side folding card. Before stamping the cabin image from the Rustic Retreat set, I needed to sponge on Smoky Slate ink and Mint Macaron with sponge daubers. Then I stamped the image onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. Then I created a mask with the cabin image and sponged some Rococo Rose above the cabin to represent the sunrise and then sponge some Mint Macaron below the mask for a grassy area. With Mint Macaron, and keeping the mask in place, I stamped the tree line image from the set in the background.
Using the Stampin’ Up! Blends combo sets of Smoky Slate, Mint Macaron and Rococo Rose, I rendered in the cabin a bit so it didn’t get lost in all the other color around it. The sentiment “I so Appreciate you” is also from the Rustic Retreat set and is stamped in Smoky Slate. The Whisper White work of art is attached to the Rococo Rose mat and Tear Tape and the combo is also attached to the card front with Tear Tape.
I do not leave the inside to fend for itself, the inside is lined with a piece of Whisper White that has been stamped with the Pine tree line in Mint Macaron.
I hope you enjoyed the simplicity of this card, its not my usual style and tested me on all kinds of fronts.
