Stamp it Group April Blog Hop – Mother’s Day

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

The blog hop this month is celebrating Mother’s Day, to me nothing could possibly be better than spending the entire day outside…..hopefully it is a beautiful day! I am born and bred a Kentucky girl – you can take the girl out of Kentucky, but you cannot take Kentucky out of the girl! No truer words to be spoken especially in the month of May. I am not just from Kentucky, I am from Louisville Kentucky. May + Louisville + Mother’s Day = The Kentucky Derby “the Run for the Roses”. I will always and forever get a little bit giddy seeing a horse, I love how beautiful they truly are. Kentucky Derby in a week long event including “Chow Wagon” tents set up throughout the week that serve Burgoo – Kentukcy’s most famous stew, Governor’s Breakfast – by invitation only, a Hot Air Balloon race, Steam Boat Race on the Ohio River, so many festivals and festivities. When I moved out of the state of Kentucky, I had no idea that THE KENTUCKY DERBY was pretty much just a big deal in Kentucky only – aside from the enormous number of Celebrities that attend the Derby. All that to say Kentucky Derby, outdoor parties and Mothers Day all go hand in hand, so Mother’s Day is a week long Pre or After the day party outdoors!

This Mother’s Day card uses a good bit of the Dandy Garden Suite – The Garden Wishes Bundle (Dandelions), The Dragonfly Garden Bundle (Dragonfly image and the Wildflower background images), the Ladybug Trinkets and the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper. On the Basic White front panel, I used an image from the My Meadow stamp set to create a Balmy Blue Sky, using 2nd generation stamping. There is a lot of Gold embossing to this front panel, the wildflower and dragonfly images are Gold heat embossed on Basic White Cardstock and Vellum. The heat embossed front panel is dry embossed with the Tasteful Texture 3D Embossing Folder, it is very subtle but is just the texture an outdoor based card needs. From the Dandy Wishes dies I cut the layers of the dandelion flower from vellum and attached them to an Old Olive card stem. The Dandelion leaves are also die cut in Old Olive.

I wrapped the Linen thread around the front panel 3 times to anchor the wildflowers. Then attached the dandelion with thin strips of foam tape, attached the leaves and vellum dandelion flower with dimensionals. To attach the vellum flower bud layers, I have found a trick to seems to work pretty well. I didn’t use glue dots because I didn’t want the elevation and those still seem to show through. I put a bit of glue on my Silicone craft mat, dab the tip of my pinky finger in the glue then on the vellum, attach the pieces and the glue “spot” can not be seen! The dandelion is attached with some clear “foam” tape that is extremely handy. The front panel is attached with glue to the Designer Series Paper, then attached to a piece of foam adhesive sheet, then attached to the Old Olive Cardbase. The Greeting “you are an inspiration” is from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp set and stamped in Old Olive on a Basic White Many Messages die.

Inside of the card is lined with a piece of Basic White card, stamped with a dandelion image from Garden Wishes and the sentiment “hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day” which comes from the Welcoming Windows stamp set.

Thank you so much, create till your heart is content.
Remember, talent is relative, we are always our own worst critics on everything! If you are like me anyway. I create very few things that I impress myself with, there is always something wrong, something could be better. However, what others see, is usually opposite of my opinion. Don’t hold yourself back.

I love your ‘Dandelion’ card Shannon – made from the Dragonfly Garden, Dandy Garden suite and dsp! Old Olive, Bumble Bee and Basic White combine perfectly with Gold emb. powder.
It was really interesting reading about the week long Kentucky Derby which I would love to attend – one fine day! Horses are magnificent creatures – even their little cousins – the pony – that come in any size, shape and colour! Have you seen the film ‘Racing Stripes’? You won’t look at the Zany Zebras in the same way ever again! Lol!

Lovely Blog Hop ladies – well done everyone!
