Good luck to you all and enjoy the hop.

I am absolutely in love with this card! First off, I love the look, colors and smell of lavender. So much so that I have anything and everything connected to it. Lavender shower gel and lotion, essential oil for my laundry, diffusers, candles, etc. So it is a natural progression that I had to have the Lavender Suite. I personally don’t do much with patterned paper unless I can connect with the majority of the patterns in the pack, this set is a success with me – purple is always welcome, I adore the natural rustic feel of crumb cake – this entire suite has won me over. For this card, I had the overwhelming need to add in the Simply Zinnia bundle – for an additional touch of color. It feels more like a flower garden with that addition which also works perfectly for a birthday card. The Crumb cake gingham patterned paper works so well for the background – and I simply love the pattern. The colors are what makes me the happiest with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape for the lavender. Berry Burst, Lofty Lemon, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape cardstock for the Zinnia. The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Old Olive cardstock. The flowers and leaves are cut with the coordinating Simply Zinnia die set. The sentiment is from the Notes of Nature stamp set, stamped in Crumb Cake on Basic White cardstock and die cut with the Tailor Made Tags die set. The final touches of the Natural Wavy Trim – which is hands down my favorite ribbon/trim of all, and a dash of purple and sparkle on the tag with the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems (another piece to the Painted Lavender Suite.)

Easter cards are always so difficult for me! Cant really explain why, I probably add the extra pressure on myself because I think an Easter Card needs to reflect the meaning of the day more so than the cute little Easter bunnies and baby chicks. Don’t get me wrong those guys are fun, cute and adorable, however….. Easter is much like Christmas to me. The day means so much more than candy and gifts.

Finally, the light bulb began flashing bright over my head while perusing the New Horizons Designer Series Paper. There it was, the perfect pattern for an Easter Card. Easter is about Rebirth/Resurrection/New Beginnings. Nature couldn’t be more perfectly suited for my idea.

There is a gorgeous watercolored pattern in the New Horizon DSP, of an open field with mountains in the background, and lets call it a lake in the mid ground, green grass and flowers in the foreground. Throw in some butterflies and there ya go – new beginnings abound. To dress up the patterned paper a bit, I gold heat embossed the border image from Daffodil Daydreams on some vellum – twice – because I couldn’t decide which card base to go with, so you decide…..which is your favorite – White or Evening Evergreen? The 2″ strip of patterned paper is matted with Pale Papaya and Evening Evergreen. The gold heat embossed vellum is attached to the back of the panel. The Sentiment is from Celebrating You and is stamped in Evening Evergreen on a left over die cut from the Picture This dies, then matted on Evening Evergreen card cut with a Layering Circles Die. The die cut butterflies are from the Daffodil Dies, they are cut in Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya card. The front is finished off with Brushed Brass Butterflies and a bow in Evening Evergreen Windowpane Checked Ribbon. Inside the card I again heat embossed the border image. On the white card base, I heat embossed the image directly on the card base. On the Evening Evergreen cardbase – I repeated the heat embossed vellum, and attached it to the back of the white liner panel
