Card Challenges

To a Wild Rose meets Sunday Stamps Challenge

Hey, so glad you could stop by, I hope you enjoy your visit.

Today we are going to check out a card I created for the Sunday Stamps SSC207 SUMMER ADVENTURE color challenge. If you get a free moment, try to hop on over to their web page and see what several other super talented designers have created for this challenge. I think you will be glad you did.

For this challenge we must use 3 of the 5 colors shown and a neutral. I matched these suggested colors to some Stampin’ Up! colors I currently have. The Red is Poppy Parade, the Light Blue is Balmy Blue and the 4th color “khaki” is Crumb Cake. My Neutral is Whisper White.

For this card, I used the To A Wild Rose stamp set, to create my own Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the primary rose image of the set, a 3 layer process on a full sheet 8-1/2″ x 11″ Whisper White cardstock, then cut it down into 4 pieces. It is really pretty easy to match up the stamps to the image, I am not very good at it, but as they say, practice make perfect. I don’t mind practicing….I love practicing! If my husband, kids, dogs and cat would allow me, I would practice all day every day.

The primary rose image of the set is a 3 step image. Step one is the outline which I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The filler color is Poppy Parade stamped off one time they put to the Whisper White Cardstock. The accent layer is full strength Poppy Parade. The leaves are also a multiple step image. Of course each step is dependent on what your desired outcome is. For the leaves I stamped the outline in Memento Black Ink, then colored them in with Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Markers. The Balmy Blue flowers image come from Bouquet Blooms Stamp set (retired).

After I cut down the full sized sheet of DSP to the size I needed, I used the Stitched Nested Label Dies to cut out the center portion. From a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I cut a smaller Stitched Nested Label Die for the sentiment, which is from the Tropical Chic stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue using the Stamparatus. I then re-stamped with Versamark ink and Clear heat embossed the sentiment for an extra special touch. The Crumb cake cardstock mat, was run through the die cut machine using the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for a bit more texture and dimension. To carry the theme through a bit to the inside, I stamped the leaf image from the stamp set in Crumb Cake on Crumb Cake Cardstock, I then die cut the leaves with the Wild Rose Dies. For a little finishing touch, I added a bit of shine to the front using the Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the card. If time allows try to hop on over the Sunday Stamps website to see what several others have come up with for this challenge. I shall return again real soon with another design. Have a great day and keep on craftin’.
