Card Challenges

Wishing you Happy Toile Tidings

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my little happy spot. Take a look around and hope you enjoy.

We would love to see what card creation you can bring to life. Please consider, taking a minute to post your card creation in our challenge gallery at CAS Colours & Sketches.

This card has been created for the Vertical challenge PCC352 at Paper Craft Crew Challenges

I have been dying to use this Suite since it entered my house! So, finally, this card was created from the Toile Tidings Suite, seen on page 7 of the 2019 Holiday Catalog. I combined the Toile Christmas Bundle (the cardinal) and the Tidings all Around Bundle (wreaths) pictured on pages 7-8 of the Holiday Catalog also incorporating a good coordinating background or border image to most any stamp set the Christmas Countdown set found on page 38 of the Holiday Catalog

Very Vanilla is the background color of the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper so this card base is half a sheet of Very Vanilla Thick cardstock cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ creating a standard side fold card. The mats for this card are Gold Glimmer Paper and Very Vanilla cardstock dry embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder from the Annual Catalog.

The accent strip is a pattern from the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper. I am a sucker for Toile, I absolutely love it. So classic, so beautiful these prints are all coordinated to Garden Green and Real Red.

The Cardinal is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on water color paper using the Stamparatus. A stamp positioning tool is necessary when stamping on watercolor paper, the texture and density of the paper make if very difficult to get a good impression the first time. This Cardinal has been stamped 3 times. I colored the Cardinal in using the Real Red Stampin’ Write marker in conjunction with the the Real Red Water color pencil and the Stampin’ Writer Blender pen. Then I used the coordinating die set to cut out the cardinal. While die cutting, I used the Tidings All Around bundle to create the 2 wreaths – the stamped wreath in the background is using the stamp set and coordinating die as well as an additional die from the same set cut the wreath is Mossy Meadow. Using my finger I dabbed on some Golden Glitz Delicata pigment ink around the leaves. The wreath in back was also dolled up with the Gold Metallic Pearls. I had originally planned to also use some Red Rhinestones, however, that just didn’t look right with the Metallic pearls and I really liked them. So the Red Rhinestones lost this battle. The sentiment “Christmas Wishes” is also from the Toile Christmas stamp set, gold heat embossed on Very Vanilla cardstock and die cut with the coordinating die.

The Toile Tidings Designer series paper is beautiful, though they had me at Toile. Always a favorite for me. The coordinating colors for this are Garden Green, Real Red and Very Vanilla. If you absolutely love this pattern, you can also wrap your Holiday gifts with the Toile Tidings Gift wrap in Real Red only.

As with all my designs I can’t leave the inside plain. Inside this card, I have stamped an image from Christmas Countdown. In my opinion this set coordinates with the Toile Christmas stamp set – mostly because they both have cardinals but the images in the Christmas Countdown are heavily geared for background and border stamping and truly could coordinate with several other sets.

Oh thank you, so glad you liked it. I tried so many ways of rendering the cardinal before I finally landed on that one. Thank you.
