Card Challenges

Festive Friday Armed Forces Day &/or Festive Stripes #FF0033

Hello everyone, so glad you could stop by!

Today I have for you a card challenge from the folks at Festive Friday. Click the link and hop over to their blog to see all the fantastic designs that folks have created and check out the amazing talents of the creators of this group. The challenge is a two fold challenge…..if you dare. Armed Forces Day is the 3rd Saturday in May, this year it is 18 May. This card is a tribute to all of our brave men and women who put their lives at risk, for the people of the United States and other friendly countries, on a daily basis in one corner of the world or another. They deserve as much admiration is possible, and I am most happy to give them what I can.

This Challenge on the one hand is asking for a shout out to Armed Forces day and then to add stripes to that if you so choose, or vice versa. I took on the double header to the best of my ability. It would seem I have nothing patriotic on any level in my stash. Guess I need to work on that a bit. What I did have is stripes, words, gold, stars, red, white and blue.

This card starts with a Night of Navy card base, layered with a mat of striped Poppy Parade from the 6″x 6″ Brights DSP. I took some ink from the Poppy Parade and Night of Navy Ink Pads, watered them down a bit with the Aqua Painter and splattered them all over a smaller piece of Whisper White cardstock. I adhered the splattered mat to a Night of Navy mat and attached that to the front of the card. With the Big Shot and some Whisper White Card scraps, I cut out “Celebrate You” about 5 times each, using the Celebrate You Thinlit dies. I cut the words out again from Gold Foil Cardstock for a glittery finish. I attached all the white layers together of each word, then applied the gold word on top, offers a lot of dimension and emphasis. Using the Twinkle Builder Punch I cut out several stars from the gold foil card stock and applied them around the front of the card. I am pleased with how the card turned out, I could see it in my head, but that doesn’t usually pan out. I think this comes across extremely patriotic.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my creation as much as I enjoyed getting it together. If you saw a product that peeked your interest, click the links below. I love your combination of Poppy Parade and Night of Navy for a patriotic design. Way to think outside the box when your stash seemed lacking in patriotic elements! Thanks for joining us at Festive Friday! 😀
