I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving
Hey everybody….I just want to reach out and wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving. Just when you thought the year couldn’t get any more difficult, Covid-19 strikes back, wreaking havoc on holiday travel, plans and gatherings.
I can’t resist the Star Wars analogy that is running through my head right now – Star Wars is a huge part of my generation, back in the 70’s when the very first ever Star Wars came out, I had my 8th birthday party at the movie theater to share the experience with all my closest friends. The second movie, Empire Strikes back comes along. The Empire (bad guys) rebuilt and strengthened, and of course they struck back. It was a rough start for the Republic (good guys), however they stood strong and answered the challenge. They sent in their Jedi fighters that were strong with the force, and in the end (of course) the Jedi’s won.
In this crazy analogy the Jedi are all the front line workers – Healthcare, first responders, mail delivery, UPS, Fed-Ex, DHL, Amazon Prime drivers, etc. The force is strong with them (and may it remain with them). The rest of us are the Republic, we need to work together to help the Jedi come out strong when this is all over.
Yes, this is going to be a rough holiday season, thank goodness for Zoom, Facetime, Google, Etc. For your (as well as family and friends) health and happiness in the future. Lets rely on all of these services so that we can still see family and friends, we just don’t have to risk it all. This will be our first Thanksgiving that we don’t travel to see family…..it will just be us, a family of 4 with 3 dogs and 1 cat…..doing the fun festive things at a much smaller scale. We will have a Zoom call or two as well as a Facetime or two. Why not do a drive by of family and friends, within reasonable mileage, give a honk, a wave…whatever works.
I hope the force remains strong with you! Make this a great holiday season, create something different but even more special.
