Card Challenges / Tip and Tricks

Paper Craft Crew PCC335

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! Today I bring to you a card that was inspired by the current challenge at Paper Craft Crew this is Sketch Challenge PCC335. I love doing challenges, it keeps the brain fresh and on the move, and the creativity alive! I hope you enjoy my design today.

So as always, when I see the sketch, color or theme challenge I am attacking for the day, something immediately pops into mind. Then it morphs a few times before it becomes the finish design. For this card I had this image and I stuck with it, I refused to let it morph because I loved the feel, look and idea of the design. I am really pleased with how this card turned out, hope you enjoy it too.

For this sketch I started with creating a morning background of Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody and Daffodil delight. I used to cycle quite a bit in my younger days and I absolutely loved riding early in the morning before the masses hit the road so I could enjoy gods gift of the beautiful sunrises. I used the a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire that entails using baby wipes, wrapped around a straight edge. A few drops of your desired colors and then simply swipe across the watercolor paper. It works beautifully. I stamped everything in black on the newly created background. The cyclist I heat embossed with clear powder, just for emphasis and interest. I used the Starburst punch to cut out the cyclist, then with dimensionals, attached to a slightly larger die cut circle. I stamped the grass in black across the background strip. I attached the background strip with liquid adhesive to the slightly larger mat strip. The completed strip was then centered on the larger mat on the front of the card base. Once every thing was in place with the liquid adhesive, I attached the completed cyclist detail with dimensionals. I cut the word Thanks from the Well Written Framelits and attached with liquid adhesive. The final detail was attaching the sequins and die cut butterflies from my stash onto the card. I had to add the butterflies because I can always remember the butterflies always seemed to be awake bright and early with me and I loved watching them glide and play in the rising morning sun light as I rode .

Gorgeous backgrounds – I like that J.M. technique, too! Thanks for playing along with this challenge with the Paper Craft Crew (sorry for my late comment!)
