My personal challenge to use one stamp set (with the help of what I perceive as a coordinating stamp set to help it along at times) was definitely put to the test with this color challenge from TGIF Challenges #tgifc232. Rustic Retreat is my personal challenge set with the help of Merry Moose Bundle. I love that Moose, this bundle and Rustic Retreat have just come to be a bundle all their own for me. Can’t have one with the other, something like Peanut Butter and Jelly, Grilled cheese and tomato soup – they just go together….in my opinion.

This card starts with a half sheet of Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock base cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ to be a standard side folding card. The Crumb Cake cardstock mat was run through the embossing machine using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. The Pretty Peacock Cardstock is an accent mat on the embossed mat. On a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock I stamped the cabin image from the Rustic Retreat stamp set using Crumb Cake and Pretty Peacock dabbing on the color with sponge daubers. Once stamped, I masked off the cabin and used another dauber to sponge on the Grapefruit Grove for the sunset coloring in the background. I colored in the image with the Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock and Smoky Slate Blends Combo Markers. The colored image is then cut out with a stitched circle die that fits the image.

The Moose image from Merry Moose Bundle is stamped in Crumb Cake on a piece of Crumb Cake Card stock then cut with the coordinating Moose Punch. For grins and giggles I needed to give my favorite moose a warming scarf in Grapefruit Grove (Grapefruit Grove ink stamped on Grapefruit Grove card). The scarf image is in the Merry Moose Stamp set as well. I tossed around the hat, but decided it just wasn’t cold enough for the hat.

The Crumb Cake embossed mat is adhered to a piece of craft foam for a bit of elevation and interest. I prefer craft foam for raising entire panels over dimensionals. It is just more sturdy in my opinion, reducing the need for tons of dimensionals on the back of a large strip like this one. It mails nicely, and feels good in the hand. The Pretty Peacock mat is glued to the crumb cake panel, the strip of ribbon is attached with a thin strip of Tear Tape and wrapped to the back to hide the raw edges. The Cabin image is adhered with liquid glue. The moose is adhered with dimensionals mostly so it appears to be strolling by some distance away from the cabin.

I can never leave the inside blank, just can’t do it. Inside I stamped the tree line image from Rustic Retreat with Pretty Peacock in the lower corner. I have to show the inside some love and gotta carry the “theme” on through.

I was concerned at first that I might have to cheat on my personal challenge, but I think this color combo worked out really nicely with this set! Yet another lesson learned and challenge accomplished.
