For this post I have a set of cards, not just one, that came to mind for this Color Challenge #GDP205 over at the Global Design Project Blog. The left side of my brain has apparently decided sets are the way to go for now, so everything is coming out in sets of 3. Have no idea what trigger was pulled but here we go.

To me Christmas colors are always silver, gold, some variation of red and some variation of green. I think my favorite red and green combo in the Stampin’ Up! line of colors is more in the Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green range. To push the boundaries of my reality a bit and since I wanted to showcase some of the new Stampin’ Up! Christmas bundles I chose 2 sets that I think meld together brilliantly! The ornament images from Memories of Home and the Christmas Gleaming sets are easily cut out with the Ornament Punch pack that is bundled with the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. Wa La! 2 stamp sets, 2 punches and a world of options!

Since I came up with a set for this challenge, I had to figure out which ONE to showcase. I took a household pole, the popular vote went to the yellow background with white embossing. For the record, I love them all, but I think the pink background and gold embossing is my favorite. I have included a close up of all 3 cards, featuring the “yellow background”, I am curious what your favorite is, let me know your thoughts. The card front is the only difference between these cards, the inside is treated just the same with a heat embossed ornament.

The card base for the featured card is of Whisper White Thick, is a top folding card cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. The Mat is So Saffron, while the front Mint Macaron decorative panel is stamped with the tree image from Memories of Home in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white. I made a bit of a revelation after I created this card….and I thought I was being so creative! I was thumbing through the holiday catalog trying to figure something else out and was hit with a brick when I realized I created something quite similar to a card in the catalog, so I guess I should share the credit with Stampin’ Up! not just for the use of their products, but also for the creative powers of the design team used for the Holiday Catalog. Check out page 33 of the Holiday catalog and you will see my plight. I typically do not pay much attention to what others create for fear of not being original, but apparently this design resonated in my sub-conscience and needed to get out.

I heat embossed the ornaments in white and gold, then the center smaller ornament is colored with the So Saffron Blends Combo pack. The ornaments are attached with dimensionals. The gold cording is from my stash, and is attached on the back of the mat with double sided tape. The sentiment ” Wishing you a merry season” comes from the Memories of Home set and is heat embossed in gold on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock then punched out with Timeless Label Punch. Using a So Saffron cardstock scrap, I punched another Timeless label, cut it in half and used it as the mat behind the sentiment label.

Not to forget the inside of the card, I created several heat embossed white and gold ornaments of each color in the challenge so I had plenty of options. Once I decided what the dominate color was for each card, I glued the coordinating ornament on the right inside corner. In this case, the ornament is the smaller So Saffron ornament image with white heat embossing because of the white embossing on the front Mint Macaron decorative panel. It all ties together.
