This post brings you a card created for Global Design Project #228 CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit. The challenge is to CASE a card created by Charlet Mallett.
Copy and selectively edit…..I always find the word selective to be intimidating, what if I do’t make the wrong choice? I feel like I came up with something that copies/resembles elements of the design. My take pulls out the vertical focal point, the subtle text in the background and a wrapping floral element. I too went with the bottom center sentiment strip but left out the side sentiment, I felt like it was more for translation purposes to the predominant “Merci” sentiment. The French translation for God is Love is Dieu est amour. I don’t have any letter stamps that fit the overall style of the card, the translation sentiment, I think would take up to much space on the card, so I left that element out. Hope you enjoy this card.
Highland Heather is my color of choice. I used it for the card base, second generation stamping of the background text, the die cut butterflies and the stamped floral vine die cut image wrapping the Cross. The Cross is die cut from Champagne Foil paper and backed with Whisper White card stock to keep the text from showing through the Cross, I felt it was to busy – the text and intricate pattern of the Cross were competing.
At first I heat embossed the stamped and die cut banner sentiment “God is Love” in black, then I decided that was bit over powering, to the softness of the overall design. I then heat embossed the sentiment in Silver, I feel it is a nicer look and it works with the champagne foil pretty well…..I don’t have any Champagne (or similar) embossing powder, to me, Gold embossing doesn’t work with the Champagne.
Inside I heat embossed a bible verse on vellum in silver along with a couple of decorative corner images, punched it out with the Banner Triple Punch and attached with liquid adhesive behind the corner images. I silver heat embossed the same corner images around the Whisper White lining and added with a Highland Heather card stock Butterfly image.
