Today I have a card for a Color Challenge at Global Design Project #GDP249. The colors are Misty Moonlight, Petal Pink and Pool Party. It was quite a challenge for me to come up with a design using these colors. I have no idea why it was so difficult, maybe because I am already in full Fall and Holiday card making mode….Petal pink couldn’t have been further from my mind set. I guess it took a bit to switch gears.
I finally decided….Whale Done was the set for this challenge. In the end I was so happy with what finally came out. Hope you enjoy.
Lets start with a Misty Moonlight side folding Card base. On one piece of Whisper White card stock, stamp a border around the edge with the Jellyfish image from the Whale Done stamp set in Petal Pink. On a 2nd pice of Whisper White, in the lower right corner, stamp the whale image from the same stamp set. First tap the whale on the Pool Party Ink pad, with a sponge dauber, along the top edge and onto the tail, blend in a light layer of Misty Moonlight. On a third piece of Whisper White apply a large stamping block that has been covered with Pool Party ink and lightly sprayed with water. Wiggle the block a bit as you removed from the piece of cardstock. Stamp the wave images in the same stamp set in a 2nd generation of Pool Party. I really love how the textures started coming together and really creating a watery effect. I stamped the wave image again in just a few spots with full strength Pool Party while the cardstock is still damp so the edges will feather. Stamp the “school” of fish image in full strength Pool Party, to create the shadow of fish far off. Stamp the fish again in 2nd generation Misty Moonlight. Once the panel is completely dry, cut to size using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Using some scrap Whisper White stamp two whales in Misty Moonlight then punch out with the coordinating Whale Builder Punch. On another scrap of Whisper White stamp the greeting “Your kind of a Big Deal” in Misty Moonlight. Punch out with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch. Cut a second Postage stamp in Petal Pink, cut in half length wise and glue to the back of the greeting, creating a border in Petal Pink. Cut 2 panels of Pool Party, one as a mat for the front panel and the other for the mat of the inside panel. Now it is time to pull all the parts and pieces together. To the watery front panel add the greeting then top off with the whales using liquid glue and dimensionals. To finish off the top panel add a few Pool Party color sequins from the Whale of a Time sequin collection. Attach the finished panel to the piece of Pool Party as a mat. Then attach this combo to the Jellyfish border Whipser White mat, then attach to the Misty Moonlight card base.
Inside the card attach the Whipser white liner to the Pool Party mat then attach to the inside of the card. I totally love how this card came together.
